famous for his Dragonlance Illustrations. Visit Larry's own website

Another illustration. This image bears a striking resemblance
to "Hani", off the cover of "The Pride of Chanur"
by C.J. Cherryh, painted by the artist Michael Whealan

A great image
from MKW I, by Orbit books (UK). The artist is not mentioned. The
image shows a geat view of Sun defier behind the massive iron-asteroid,
that is on its dead run toward the Kzinti base.

What you don't know though, is that
if you really zoom into this map you find Kzin listed in the next galactic
sector over from Regulus.
However, Kzin's position on this map
contradicts Niven's cannon in that Kzin is about 61 light years from
earth.
This map was scanned from a copy of
"The Art of Star Trek", and tidied up digitally by Captain
Bolton.
Apparently, this map also featured
in an episode of Deep Space Nine as well.

Female Kzinti and Jotoki by Fritzin'SnowGrygon of the Niven Yahoo Group.

The artist wrote: I still haven't named
the Jotok but the femme is named Raisa. She lacks breasts as the
results of a male kzinti scientific experiment.
Drawing the Jotok was tough- all of Niven's descriptions
of them differ. One says it's like an octopus, another says it's
a thing with elbos sticking up in the air... I tried drawing elbos
on an octopus but eh... that's what you get.

Paul
Lloyd writes... "I did this, using Truespace (for the mesh)
and PaintShopPro (for the textures).
"It's supposed to be the "Angel's Pencil"
from the short story "The Warriors" by Larry Niven MKW
I
"The silvery image of the enemy ship
almost filled the viewer. It showed as a broad, wide ring encircling
a cylindrical axis, like a mechanical pencil floating inside a platinum
bracelet. A finned craft projected from the pointed end of the axial
section. Angular letters ran down the axis..."
|

Again from Paul Lloyd.
"Here is my illustration of a scene from
the short story "The Warriors". It shows the "Angel's
Pencil" lining up its reaction drive to fire on the Kzinti
ship.
I've used some artistic licence (I know the two
ships don't come this close in the story). Or, maybe, it shows the
"Angel's Pencil" manouvering close to the Kzinti ship
after the story has ended.
It was done using "Truespace" and "PaintShopPro".

Model of the Angel's Pencil - actual size
Size: 14 1/2", 1/600 scale (based on conjectural length of
725 feet).
The Angel's Pencil was the first Kzin starship
that humans encountered and you can read about it in "The Warriors"
by Larry Niven MKW I
